BOTULINUM TOXIN
Botulinum toxin is a purified, biological, non-toxic protein (don't be confused by its name). It is used for medical purposes to treat neurological diseases, and in Aesthetic Medicine, to blur (not eliminate) wrinkles in the lower third of the face, that is, expression lines. Botox treatment is currently the most requested among minimally invasive procedures, one of the safest and with the fewest side effects.
How is botulinum toxin applied?
With a fine needle, with a small amount of product and in the muscle of the area to be treated, since the toxin inhibits local muscle movement, relaxing it and without injuring the nerve endings, as long as it is applied by a medical professional. Aesthetic Medicine.
Where does it apply?
In the upper third of the face, not in the lower. That is, on the forehead, crow's feet, between the eyebrows or the tail of the eyebrow, but not on the smile, cheekbones or cheeks. It can also be used to eliminate abnormal sweating from the armpits, hands or soles of the feet, because it manages to stop the stimulation of the sweat glands. In any case, these are the most common areas:
Botox between the eyebrows
It can be applied at various points, but the botox between the eyebrows is one of the most requested, since it manages to sweep the face of worry and anger, rejuvenate and relax the expression.
Botox on the forehead
When wrinkles are marked in this area, they transmit worry and fatigue and age the facial expression. The application of Botox on the forehead is also one of the most common, and if it is done correctly, it never paralyzes the area, but it preserves a certain mobility and expression without emphasizing the furrows, which tend to be marked in this area.
Botox in crow's feet
If your skin is very thin and you gesticulate a lot with your eyes, most likely, Botox on crow's feet is a good solution for you. Dr. Cerrud performs this treatment strategically and smoothly so that certain lines do not disappear and others soften without being completely eliminated. The result is a younger and more open look, always natural, that continues to transmit each emotion without emphasizing the passage of time in it.
How long does botox last?
The effects are temporary, not permanent; they remain for about 4 months, but they can vary depending on what each person gestures, age, the strength of their facial muscles, cosmetic care and lifestyle: if you are an athlete it lasts less. The effects of Botox begin to be seen after two or three days and after 15 days they have a definitive result.
Side effects
If the technique is performed by a trained professional and specialist in Aesthetic Medicine, the side effects of Botox are usually non-existent: at most there may be some eventual and minimal bruising, which is reabsorbed in approximately 48 hours. Logically, if it is not a professional who applies the botulinum toxin, one eyebrow could be higher than the other (in the case of using it to raise the eyebrows), paralyze the forehead, between the eyebrows or the wrinkles around the eyes. And above all, it could change the expression, ultimately.
It is painful?
It is not, although it could be annoying. The botulinum toxin is infiltrated with a very fine needle, but in the case of patients with high sensitivity to pain, the discomfort decreases by taking an analgesic (paracetamol), applying ice or spreading an anesthetic ointment 30 minutes before.
How many botulinum toxin sessions are necessary?
Only one, with a necessary review after 7-15 days, to assess the result and touch up if necessary. The session lasts around 10-15 minutes.
